Based at Hall Place, our 400-acre estate is well-equipped to host a range of land-based qualifications including Equine Studies. Our Equestrian Centre has stables for over 50 horses and is approved by the British Horse Society (BHS) as a ‘Where to Train’ centre up to BHSAI. We regularly host BHS examinations and encourage all our learners to develop their practical skills alongside their vocational qualification.
Our facilities include:

● 60x40m (floodlit) outdoor arena
● 60x30m outdoor arena
● Extensive grass rides
● BE cross country course
● Complete range of equipment used for practical sessions to allow students to develop the necessary skills associated with working in the equine industry including a whole skeleton.
● Regular on-site competitions give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a commercial setting
The College offers students further education diplomas and certificates from Level 1 to 3
Full-time, 1 Year
This course will provide a basic introduction to horse care and riding skills within an educational environment. Delivery of the course is practically based with some theory lessons including English and maths as necessary. Learners will focus on the team building, relevant industry placement and developing skills ready to make their next step.
Full-time, 1 Year
This course provides students with an excellent opportunity to access the equine industry and/or progress through to further courses in their chosen field. Students are able to develop practical skills in the equine industry and gain underpinning knowledge of equine related topics. Students will complete a combination of internal and external industry placements which is assessed as part of the course.
Full-time, 2 Years
Our Level 3 courses provide a range of different sized options in terms of modules covered, level of study and providing opportunities for progression either into employment or higher education. The majority of our students choose to take the two-year programme completing a National Extended Diploma in Equine Management which is equivalent to three A-levels.
This course is actively involved in the daily care and routine of the college’s horses through yard duties which in the second year includes weekends. This allows learners to develop their practical skill set which is essential when gaining employment within the industry. It allows students to develop employability skills alongside gaining confidence in becoming independent learners. There are also opportunities to be involved in the running of college events such as dressage, showjumping and British Eventing through our annual event.
