Since its Creation in 1992, the equine department at the Royal Agricultural University has maintained close links with the equine industry and has constantly redefined courses to meet employer requirements.
Teaching covers every aspect of equine-related enterprises and equestrian sports. Many of the modules benefit from talks from industry leaders, giving you an insight into issues and developments affecting the industry; whilst providing valuable contacts and introducing a wide variety of possible careers once you graduate.
Enhanced by our impressive knowledge base and extensive industry contacts, this course instils the scientific and entrepreneurial skills required to develop products and businesses within a broadening market place. After a generic year one, you will be able to tailor your learning to reflect a business or science emphasis, whilst gaining relevant vocational skills and industry contacts during your employment placement in the second year.
The course provides a thorough grounding in agriculture, including crop and animal science and husbandry, agricultural economics, marketing and business management. Equine production systems, science, management and financial control are integral aspects of the degree course.
This MSc specializes in applying recent advances in scientific understanding to the management and welfare of horses. The course is designed to cover those areas of equine science relevant to the routine management of horses, with particular attention being focused upon more recent advances in research and development.
This course specialises in the bloodstock industry comparing science and business practices to those within the sports horse industry. It’s tailored to those with a keen interest and career aspirations in the thoroughbred and sports horse industries; from training and breeding to racecourse and enterprise management.
