College Courses

Diploma in Sporting Excellence 2021 – 2023

If you’re rider and want the opportunity to improve performance via a blended learning programme consisting of central ‘camps’ at Hartpury College and ‘home visits’ from the rider’s assigned mentor/assessor, then this course is for you. This blended learning programme is in partnership with British Dressage, British Eventing, and British Showjumping. 

Level 3 Foundation Diploma Equine Management (Business) Gain detailed academic knowledge and an in-depth understanding of horse management and business through both theory-based and practical sessions. You’ll study both pure business and equine related units, giving you the specialised knowledge needed to pursue a range of careers.

Level 3 Foundation Diploma Equine Management (Equitation) Gain detailed academic knowledge and an in-depth understanding of horse management and equitation through theory-based and practical sessions. You’ll be involved in the daily care of the horses through yard duties which will develop the practical skills necessary to gain employment within the equine industry.

Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Equine Management (Non-riding) This course gives you the opportunity to gain a good grounding in key aspects of horse management and the theory of equitation, via a mixture of theory and practical units.

Level 3 National Extended Diploma Equine Management (Business) Year 2 This course allows you to gain detailed academic knowledge and an in-depth understanding of horse management and business through theory-based and practical sessions. You’ll study both pure business and equine related units, giving you the specialised knowledge needed to pursue a range of careers.

Level 3 Extended Diploma Equine Business

This course is for you if you want to gain a detailed academic knowledge and an in-depth understanding of horse management and business through both theory-based and practical sessions.

Level 3 Extended Diploma Equine Management

You’ll have the opportunity to gain detailed academic knowledge and an in-depth understanding of horse management and equitation through theory-based and practical sessions.

Level 3 National Diploma Equine Management (Equitation)

If you're passionate about the human-horse relationship from an equine welfare perspective, and want to understand how horses interpret our world to enhance their wellbeing, then this is the ideal course for you. You don’t need to ride horses, you simply need a keen interest in horse behaviour, learning and welfare. 

FdSc Equine Performance

You’ll be able to gain applied knowledge and practical experience in the field of elite horse performance on this foundation degree. Focus on the latest industry practices and undertake work-based learning. Develop your skills to work with horses at the highest competitive levels.

MRes Equestrian Science

This unique Master of Research (MRes) degree is a specialised master’s degree that provides the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the core principles of research as well as the ability to undertake research in the equestrian science subject area.

MSc Applied Equine Science (MSc, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate)

The MSc Applied Equine Science programme provides you with the opportunity to develop and further explore a range of applied subjects within the field of equestrian science, building on your prior learning and experience within the industry.

MSCi Equine Science

Complete an undergraduate and postgraduate-level qualification in four years. Study a range of equine science subjects and tailor your degree to suit you. Benefit from world-class facilities including an equine therapy centre, industry-standard science labs and horses on-site.

MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy

This part-time programme is available to chartered physiotherapists who are looking to specialise in animals. Graduates from this programme will either receive a Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy, which will allow them to upgrade from Category B membership of ACPAT to Category A.

Equitation Science (MSc, Postgraduate Diploma, Postgraduate Certificate) Improve the welfare of horse and rider through ethical decision-making underpinned by the latest scientific research.
