Established in 1893, Writtle University College is set across 220 hectares of beautiful Essex countryside, ten minutes from the city of Chelmsford and 35 minutes from central London. 

The Integrated Masters programme is an innovative four year programme of study, which allows students to progress through a high quality course at undergraduate level directly into a fourth year at masters level, finishing with an MVetPhys Veterinary Physiotherapy.

Study will involve both large and companion animals with a major focus being on horses and dogs. Students may wish to step off the programme after completing the three-year undergraduate programme and at this point they will, if successful, have a professional qualification in either equine or canine massage.

This new degree programme at Writtle University College offers you the opportunity to pursue a specialist interest in the field of equine behaviour. The course covers a range of practical and theoretical modules, integrating the latest research to promote ethical and sustainable horsemanship practices using both our stud and ridden horses. 

The Equine Performance and Business Management programme incorporates the key themes of applied science, development of specialist practical skills, management skills for various enterprises and business skills for all aspects of the equine industry. Students can select to focus their attention more on developing their stud or equitation knowledge. This programme will equip students seeking employment in the diverse equine sector, with a strong grounding in the essential areas relevant to a variety of potential career pathways

This unique course offers a combination of academic and professional skills that will enable the successful student to enter a career in equine massage. The course rigorously takes the student through anatomy and physiology of the horse and relates structure to function through modules such as saddle fitting and farriery, exercise physiology and biomechanics. The course also encompasses a range of complementary therapies, rehabilitation and performance for the horse, equine sports medicine and behaviour & welfare.

This two year programme offers you the opportunity to pursue a specialist interest in the field of equine behaviour. The course covers a range of practical and theoretical modules in anatomy and physiology, nutrition, health, as well as the specialist behaviour modules where you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the academic theory underpinning the natural behaviour of the horse, incorporating principles of ethology and psychology and the application of this to training and husbandry procedures.

This diploma is a great way to introduce students into the world of Equine Sports Therapy. The course follows the same modules as the BSc (Hons) Equine Sports Therapy and so allows successful students to progress onto the degree and gives access to the Equinenergy (EBW) professional equine sports massage qualification.
