Riders of a high standard, or those who have the potential to succeed at a high level, are also given the opportunity to join our prestigious Equine Academy. Academy riders are provided with expert coaching and tuition to enable them to compete at a high level.
Students studying at Riseholme College have access to the outstanding facilities at our Bishop Burton Campus, this includes the impressive Bishop Burton Arena, Therapy Centre with Water Treadmill, CET Equine Spa, Solarium and Zamar, Rider Fitness and Performance Suite, two indoor arenas, three outdoor arenas and stabling for over 100 horses.
Specialist equipment includes Quintic Gait Analysis software, FLIR Thermal Imaging cameras, Polar Heart Monitors, Televet ECG, Synchronicity Rein Tension Gauges, Noldus Observe XP software and extensive laboratory-based equipment.
Riseholmes commercial equine centre hosts an extensive range of regional, national and international competitions, demonstrations and clinics, and is a BHS training and examination centre. Equine students gain experience by working alongside the tutors and instructors at these events, developing the practical skills needed to work in industry.
Level 2 and Level 3 in Equine – You will have a job and earn a wage as you build up your knowledge and experience within the horse care industry.

This is a practical programme with an emphasis on working with horses to allow you to gain the skills required to work in the equine industry. As part of the course, you will also develop your basic knowledge and understanding of horse care and what it entails.
This programme has been developed for ambitious people wishing to pursue a career within the equine industry, providing students with an excellent opportunity to develop a sound knowledge and understanding in horse care and or riding through a mix of practical, classroom and work-based study.

The programme benefits from state of the art equine facilities to ensure graduates are fully equipped with knowledge of scientific principles of sport science, coaching, fitness and training to develop performance in equestrian sports.
This programme provides an in-depth specialist understanding of the wellbeing of the horse through study of the principles underpinning equine health and nutritional management.
