Head Of Equine & Smallholder Nutrition

Allen And Page Horse Feeds

Location: East of England
Closing Date: Tuesday, April 5th 2022

Job Type: Management / Nutrition

Job Description

Allen & Page was established as a limited company in 1936, but the Page family had been producing and selling horse feeds for many years. Originally based at the mill at Quayside, Norwich, the company quickly became renowned across East Anglia for the high-quality feed it produced.

Allen & Page strives to constantly innovate and improve, and part of that process involved moving the business to its current state of the art mill in Shipdham, Norfolk. The new mill provided the company with the technology to produce feeds that were more wholesome and environmentally friendly than the market standard, an ethos that continues to this day. More than two decades ago Allen & Page gained the accreditation of many major food production and quality control bodies, including the Vegetarian Society, Soil Association and ISO organisations. This set a standard for the company to continue working closely with these bodies to ensure the highest quality feed is produced.

We are looking for an individual to be Head of our Equine & Smallholder Nutrition Team, who shares the same values as we do and has a real drive to improve both equine and smallholder animal nutrition and educate the owners for the animals we feed. Our horse owners are mainly leisure riders so experience in this area is essential.

The Head of Equine & Smallholder Nutrition will play a major part in overseeing product development, formulating new feeds, feed trials, sampling and the nutritional analysis of feeds in line with current legislation.

As this role covers both our equine and smallholder ranges, in addition to equine knowledge and experience we are also looking for someone who can give nutritional advice for animals such as poultry, pigs, sheep, goats and cattle.

Successful candidates will have experience of managing a team, have leisure horse experience and ideally hold at least a relevant Masters Degree.

  • Writing nutritional articles for internal and external publications and marketing materials
  • Responsibility for co-ordinating our Product Customer Service - before, during and after a purchase.
