Derby College Group is a general FE college offering a wide range of technical, vocational and short courses. Our land based provision is based at one of our four sites, Broomfield Hall. Broomfield Hall is located a 10-minute bus ride from Derby city centre, with frequent bus services to the surroundings areas, and accessible to the Derby train station. Land based offer courses in seven different areas, with equine being one. We have a bespoke equestrian centre and offer courses ranging from Higher Education to Apprenticeships ensuring we support students in their next steps. We have onsite support teams, a learning resource centre and fantastic rural grounds.

We offer a variety of courses at the College that provide students the opportunity to develop a wide range of equestrian skills, alongside an awareness of current industry issues and scientific concepts:
Programmes can be studied FULL TIME or PART TIME and offer both riding and non-riding options.

Our Higher Education programmes are validated by the University of Derby, however, these courses are delivered and assessed entirely at our Equestrian Centre, Broomfield Hall.

Highly experienced, passionate and supportive staff:
Each year group has a dedicated Personal Tutor, together with half-termly individual tutorial sessions
Easy access to staff means that students receive extensive opportunities for support
Degree students also receive group and individual support from the College HE Academic Study Support Coaches or FE Personal Coaches
Small group sizes mean that students benefit from a friendly, supportive teaching environment
Our HE students benefit from access to the College study resources together with library and online resources through the University of Derby
Excellent training facilities at the Equestrian Centre
A wide variety of enrichment opportunities to gain a broader awareness of the equestrian industry. In recent years, we have offered our equine students some fantastic learning opportunities, including equine dissections on site, guest speakers, training with National equestrian coaches, scientific conferences, equestrian careers & recruitment specialist, visits to equine veterinary hospitals and even work experience at Chatsworth International Horse Trials
Higher Education students get priority DIY livery, should they wish to bring their own horse
Students are encouraged to train towards BHS Exams, alongside studying for their course, which further enhances their employment prospects
Students are encouraged to develop their skills of inquiry and independent learning throughout the programmes, with the support of their tutors
We offer an innovative, challenging and industry-led set of degree programmes, which aim to produce graduates who are highly professional & employable within the industry
