Assistant Editor / Deputy Editor depending on experience

D J Murphy Publishers is looking for an Assistant Editor / Deputy Editor for Horse&Rider magazine. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the UK’s number one equestrian monthly magazine. Generating ideas for exciting content for our readers, then organising and attending photoshoots and writing up the features will be all in a day’s work, so it’s essential that you’re very organised and highly motivated. You’ll also be responsible for subbing copy from freelance writers into Horse&Rider’s tone and style, proof reading and carrying out picture research for features and managing approvals for pages.

  • The successful candidate will be able to provide support for the rest of the editorial team as well as collaborating with the design team to ensure each page looks as good as possible.
  • The right candidate will have a wealth of horsey experience alongside a passion for journalism and writing incisive, exciting content for print and online.
  • You must have excellent computer skills (InDesign skills an advantage), perfect grammar, be flexible and able to work calmly and methodically to press deadlines as part of a small team.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our offices in Grayshott, Surrey. Candidates must have a full driving licence.
