Assistant Manager

Unicorn Saddlery is a well-known equestrian establishment offering one of the best equine retail stores in the South West, together with superb onsite Saddle Fitting facilities.

We are currently seeking for the role of Assistant Manager to join our team.

The successful candidate will be part of a busy and friendly team. The Assistant Store Manager will aid in helping the Manager to oversee all daily operations of the business. They need to be passionate about delivering exceptional levels of customer service and driving sales.
The Assistant Store Manager will be responsible for motivated & engaging staff and to ensure the staff represent and embrace the business’ values and goals.

Responsibilities could range from – but not limited to:

• Duty manage in the absence of the retail manager

• Lead colleagues in delivery of task, but always prioritising the customer first.

• Provide relevant and timely feedback to shop manager to support colleague performance

• Cash handling

• Customer Service and complaint handling

• Support the retail manager in delivering a safe working environment

• Role model great customer service and lead the team in delivering a customer first approach

• Ensure stock accuracy to ensure product availability and support the  Manager with stock ordering.

• Manage the returns process to ensure prompt resolutions.

• Oversee customer orders.

• Visual Merchandising

• Accrue a comprehensive knowledge of all store, delivery and online processes.

• Ultimately focusing on increasing sales

The successful candidate will preferably be:

• Commercially minded with a proven track record in a similar management role

• Be a real people person who thoroughly enjoys interacting with customers and their team

• Be enthusiastic with a warm and approachable personality

• Have a thorough understanding of retailing

• Be a real team player who is willing to get stuck into all areas of the business

• Be focussed on providing excellent customer service at all times

• Be competent with IT packages, able to demonstrate competence over a range of programmes.

• Previous Equestrian experience and knowledge

• Be able to lift feed and bedding up to 25 kg regularly.

As this is a store based position, for a full time Assistant Manager working 40 hours over 5 days, which will include Saturday’s, candidates need to live locally and able to commute to store daily.
