An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Communications professional to join the leading international horse charity World Horse Welfare.
World Horse Welfare’s values are grounded in pragmatism and compassion as it strives to support and strengthen the horse-human partnership in all its guises through a combination of care, research, education and influence. The charity promotes and protects welfare across the full spectrum of the equine world including leisure, sport, work and production.
The Communications Officer’s role is to advance the charity’s strategy by developing, writing and disseminating communications for external and internal audiences, in line with the charity’s brand and Communications and Fundraising Strategy.
Writing is fundamental to the role, as you will be responsible for planning, writing and editing the charity’s supporter newsletter, developing and drafting story content for the charity’s supporter email programme, developing messaging for campaigns and initiatives, drafting and updating website content and helping to draft responses to enquiries from the public.
Working to the Head of Communications and with the wider team, a key part of this role is testing and refining approaches to increase reach, engagement, website traffic and donations and to rigorously monitor and evaluate results to inform further activity.
We are looking for someone who has experience in media, publications, PR, marketing or communications. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to write quality copy in a variety of styles quickly – both online and in print. Ideally you will have digital and/or print project management experience.
This is a hybrid role which allows you to work from home 3 days per week and in the head office in Norfolk 2 days per week. You must be prepared to travel within the UK and occasionally stay away from home if required.
Benefits include a generous pension scheme and cash health plan, paid employee sickness absence scheme and a minimum of 31 days’ holiday (including bank/public holidays and mandatory shutdown between Christmas and New Year). Death in service, free parking and bike to work scheme.
World Horse Welfare is committed to championing equality and diversity in all aspects of employment and in the services that it provides. We encourage applications from under-represented groups, particularly ethnically diverse communities, LGBTQ+ and disabled people.
World Horse Welfare takes great pride in being realistic, compassionate and forward-thinking and the successful applicant will be expected to share these values.
