Equine / Pet Claims Handler

Closing Date for Applicants:
Thursday 14th March 2019

Location: York

Reference: CUSD01852

Salary: From £18k p.a. depending on experience, + bonus and other benefits (see below)

About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity available for Claims Handlers to join our team in York to deal with our customer’s equine and pet claims.

We aim to provide a world class customer service, and to support this our handlers have file ownership of all claims, being the one point of contact for our customer throughout their claims journey. We also have training and development plans in place for all staff as well as a commitment to continuous improvement.

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Work-life balance is really important to us here at NFU Mutual, and so you will not be required to work evenings and weekends (although optional overtime is sometimes available).

More about the Role

At NFU Mutual we will always look for ways to settle our customers’ claims, rather than excuses not to. This makes working in claims altogether more satisfying and more rewarding. It means less no, more yes. Managing and processing motor and personal claims, you’ll listen closely to the customer and what they need – reassuring them and giving them peace of mind at what can be a stressful time.

As well as the customer, you’ll talk to NFU Mutual Agents and relevant third parties to settle claims quickly and efficiently. You will liaise closely with Veterinary Practices, breeders and affinity partners to ensure all information gathered for the claim is accurate and consistent. From the moment you pick up the phone, you’ll make customers feel at ease, giving them the time, care and attention they deserve.

About You

We are seeking individuals who have either veterinary or equine experience/knowledge – this could be academic and/or practical experience. Whichever way, you will have a passion for animals and their welfare. Of course, you’ll also need to be empathetic and understanding, with a confident telephone manner and attentive listening skills. Customer service experience would be great, as would an insurance background, but it is not essential, as we’ll give you all the training you need to get started.

Reward and Benefits

You get more from work with NFU Mutual. More support, more career development, more rewards, more job satisfaction. Our generous benefits package includes:

  • Annual group bonus scheme (up to 10%)
  • 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays – with options to buy, sell, or bank up to 5 days each year
  • Contributory pension scheme (up to 12%)
  • Interest free season ticket loans to help with your commute
  • Study support towards your CII qualification – and a bonus when you pass!
  • Health and well-being plan where you can claim back routine healthcare costs, such as dental check-ups, glasses, physiotherapy, and much more!
  • £20 towards your monthly gym membership (terms apply)
  • Restaurant and high street discounts
