Average 42.5 hours per week on a rolling rota including weekends
Horses and Ponies Protection Association are looking for a dynamic equestrian with industry experience, preferably that holds a BHS AI, BHSQ Level 3 Coach or equivalent qualification to manage and oversee the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of all HAPPA equines and drive the performance, motivation and support the training and development of the Equine Care Team.

The role of Equine Manager (ERRM) requires a skilled individual with experience in staff management and horse husbandry, alongside a passion to embrace and deliver excellent customer care, to our members and visitors to site.
We are seeking an excellent communicator, who can deliver the organisational vision and values, engaging with the sector and stakeholders to ensure that equine welfare is a top priority.
The role includes overall responsibility for:
The day to day running of the Equine Yard and all associated buildings and equipment.
Ensuring all equines receive exemplary standards of care and continually striving to improve and maintain equine throughput.
Manage the performance and development of the Equine Care Team.
Producing and monitoring bespoke rehabilitation programs for all resident equines.
Implement a robust Health & Safety Policy and ensure that procedures and policies are maintained throughout.
The successful applicant will have the following essential attributes:
Full driving license.
BHS AI or equivalent qualification/ candidates without must hold a teaching qualification i.e. BHS PTT and be training towards a full qualification in the immediate future.
Understanding of grassland management.
Evidence of a good standard of general education.
Use of Microsoft Office/ Outlook/Excel experience/qualification
Experience
Experienced in horse training, proven knowledge on the backing and breaking process.
Ability to oversee and implements rehabilitation plans for ridden and companion equines.
Competent rider with the ability to teach riders of all abilities.
Knowledge of and ability to teach techniques to rehabilitate nervous and abused equines.
Experience of identifying and making decisions regarding treatment of equine ailments.
An aptitude to work under pressure and meet deadlines, making best use of available resources.
Experience in liaising and listening effectively with individuals, and as part of a team.
Experience with managing large numbers of horses in field kept and/or stabled environment.
Experience in managing people
