Activate Learning are currently seeking an enthusiastic Equine Yard Technician/Instructor to join our team based at Merrist Wood College.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day care of the horses on the college yard, ensuring that a high standard is maintained throughout and that student activity is facilitated safely and effectively.
You will support yard staff in the effective delivery of student practical sessions and help to create a supportive learning environment for our students, ensuring that we maintain constant learning, but to also recognise individual capabilities whilst encouraging them to achieve their end goals.
This can be full or part time, please note on your application form your preference and working hours, if part time. There will be a requirement to undertake exercising of allocated horses and an expectation to work weekend days on a rota basis.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
The successful candidate will hold a BHS Level 2 and BHS Level 2 Teach (or equivalent) to support practical and riding sessions, ensuring a quality student experience in line with academic and industry expectations. You will also have experience in riding a variety of horses.
A flexible working approach is needed and the ability to work as part of a team is a must. Ideally, you will have experience of working on a busy, professional equine yard. Further training towards BHS examinations and Assistant Instructor Qualified or BHS Stage 3 teaching is required for this role.
