We are looking for a hard-working and motivated person to join the National Equine Welfare Council. This role would suit an individual who has strong administrative and excellent customer service skills, is an effective communicator, and has a good understanding of the role of equine charities.

The National Equine Welfare Council C.I.C. (NEWC) works to protect horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, by providing support and guidance to equine organisations, businesses and charities to help raise equine welfare standards nationwide. We work to safeguard equine welfare through an Accreditation scheme, the provision of advice in relation to welfare concerns, rehoming, and advice and guidance on equine care and management.

The successful applicant will be;

  • Responsible for providing essential administrative support to the board of Directors
  • You will be the first point of contact for NEWC members
  • Providing excellent customer service at all times in order to support the growth of our membership
  • You will assist with the development and implementation of an effective communications plan to positively promote NEWC reaching both internal and external stakeholders via all media platforms, including Annual Reports, Newsletters and workshops.
  • Working closely with the Treasurer you will report on expenditure whilst identifying opportunities for future funding.

Coming from a broad administrative background you will have experience of report writing, excellent attention to detail, and outstanding communication skills to deal with confidential matters in a sensitive manner. An understanding of the safe storage of documentation and personal information in line with GDPR retention guidelines is essential, as are excellent I.T. skills. A good level of equine knowledge is essential; working within the equine charity sector would be desirable, as would some understanding of the legislation that protects equines.

Primarily home based, there may be the opportunity to work in offices at one of our member NEWC charities. A full valid driving licence and use of your own vehicle for business use is essential to this role.
