FIELD OFFICER - permanent, full time

World Horse Welfare is a leading registered charity established to support the welfare of horses worldwide.  We are seeking to recruit a full time Field Officer to join our existing team working across the UK. 

About the role

This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Chief Field Officer.  You will be responsible for investigating reports of equine cruelty and neglect, carrying out pre-loan home checks, educating on all aspects of equine husbandry and giving presentations about World Horse Welfare to the general public.  At times, you will be required to work closely with the Police, Trading Standards and other equine welfare organisations.  Working hours are 40 per week Monday to Friday - you may occasionally be called out outside of normal working hours.

About you          

You will have a proven successful track record of conducting investigations in a commercial or public service environment.  You will also be experienced and confident in dealing with difficult people under stressful and sometimes hostile conditions. You will possess extensive knowledge and practical experience of equines together with excellent interpersonal skills.  A sound working knowledge of the laws relating to animal welfare and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential.  

You must be competent with Microsoft packages as you will be required to run a small office from home.  

It is a requirement of this role that you live within the area specified or be in a position to relocate to take up the post.
