FIELD OFFICER - permanent, full time

Norfolk,  Suffolk,  South East Lincolnshire

£40,493.00 per annum

World Horse Welfare is a leading registered charity established to support the welfare of horses worldwide.  We are seeking to recruit a full time Field Officer to join our existing team working across the UK.

This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Chief Field Officer.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for a designated geographical area investigating and reporting on welfare concerns reported to the charity and offering advice and support to owners in order to improve their horses’ lives.

  • You will be responsible for overseeing the care of World Horse Welfare’s rehomed equines within the assigned geographical area.

  • You will also educate on all aspects of equine husbandry by giving presentations about World Horse Welfare to the general public.

  • At times, you will be required to work closely with the Police, Trading Standards and other equine welfare organisations.

This is a home-based position and will involve frequent travel throughout the region, therefore it is a requirement of the role for you to live within the designated area or be prepared to relocate.  Working hours are 40 per week Monday to Friday - you may occasionally be called outside of normal working hours.

  • You must be competent with Microsoft packages as you are required to have access to a home office set up where broadband is available.  IT and communications equipment will be provided.

  • You will have a proven successful track record of conducting investigations in a commercial or public service environment.

  • You will also be experienced and confident in dealing with difficult people under stressful and sometimes hostile conditions.

  • You will possess extensive knowledge and practical experience of equines together with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • A sound working knowledge of the laws relating to animal welfare and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential.

Benefits include a competitive salary, generous pension scheme and cash health plan, death in service, employee sickness absence pay and a minimum of 31 days holiday (including bank holidays and mandatory shutdown between Christmas and New Year).  You are also provided with a uniform and company vehicle.

World Horse Welfare is committed to championing equality and diversity in all aspects of employment and in the services that it provides. We encourage applications from under-represented groups, particularly ethnically diverse communities, LGBTQ+ and disabled people.

World Horse Welfare takes great pride in being realistic, compassionate and forward-thinking and the successful applicant will be expected to share these values.
