We are recruiting for a brand new role! The Horse Care and Welfare Field Engagement Manager will drive our vitally important field-based impact by leading our team of Horse Care & Welfare Field Officers who work with horse owners and help improve welfare of horses through proactive education, support, and advice.
The ethos of The British Horse Society is to improve the welfare of horses through education and owner support by taking a proactive approach to improving the lives of horses. We have a fabulous Horse Care and Welfare Department which comprises an Education Team, an Engagment Team, a Field Officer Team and nearly 200 Volunteer Advisers!
Location: Your team is based UK-wide so this role encompasses the flexibility to be based remotely. Our head office is near Stoneleigh in Warwickshire so there will be occasional times you will need to travel to our office.
What you’ll be doing:
Leading, motivating, developing & managing performance of our team of Horse Care & Welfare Field Officers – inclusive of appraisals, reviews, development and training needs.
Objective setting in line with department targets, KPI monitoring and production of reports demonstrating impact of our Field Officers.
Development and implementation of proactive horse care and welfare educational strategies
Identifying and delivering fundraising opportunities as part of Horse Care and Welfare activities, working together with our Fundraising Department to develop resources and propositions that support this.
Ensuring our Field-based team are appropriately trained and compliant with relevant laws, regulations and health and safety policies.
Support our Marketing and Communications Department in driving awareness and promotion of our field-based activities, through sharing powerful case-studies and collecting content for use across our channel

Dealing with your own caseload of welfare concerns

You have drive and ambition to grow our field-based impact in improving welfare of horses and ponies through education and support
Hours: Our usual full-time hours are 35 a week – with an early finish on a Friday! For this role it would be beneficial to have a flexible attitude to evening, weekend working and overnight stays.
