Foster excellence, work together and deliver results! Are these qualities in your toolkit? Then we want to hear from you! We have a range of exciting opportunities at our Equine Resource Unit and we are looking for dynamic individuals to enhance our student experience, ensuring we maintain high-quality standards and student satisfaction rates.
Following on a £2million investment, all of Writtle University College’s equine facilities have been brought onto one site at our Cow Watering Campus, which is now a central hub for equine teaching and research, boasting the latest in scientific technologies.
Facilities at the Equine Training and Development Centre consist of an oval horse walker, DIY Stabling, Equine Academy, therapy barns, equine water treadmill, solariums and outdoor and indoor riding arenas. These facilities have been added to following the completion of a purpose-built stud unit in 2018, which comprise an indoor ménage, a teasing and collection area, stock room, sitting up room, laboratory, Monarch stabling and youngstock barns.
Writtle University College also has a fantastic track record in equine breeding. The Stud won a British Eventing Breeders Medal this year for the leading British-bred horse in the Eventing Five Year Old Championships. The Stud also produced the Reserve Champion showjumper at the British Equestrian Federations Futurity Championships in 2017, along with breeding an Elite graded colt at the 2019 Futurity.
The investment enhances the student experience by enabling all practical sessions to be carried out in one space, whether it's used for breeding youngstock, the therapy units or the riding facilities.
