Horsescotland is the national organisation for all equestrian sport and activity in Scotland and was founded in 1998 to enable the progression, performance and development of those in equestrianism to excel at what they do best while ensuring respect for the welfare and safety of horses and their people.

Today, that is very much still very much our purpose and we aspire to empower Scotland to be a leading, inclusive nation for horse sports and activities through:

  • connecting the Scottish equestrian community
  • collaborating with partner organisations and government
  • enabling people, horses and places to prosper

We are currently seeking a Membership Liaison Advisor to provide a high quality, proactive communication and administration service for the organisation and member bodies of horsescotland.

The role

The role covers all aspects of the administration of horsescotland but a key focus of the role will be to help shape and deliver our proactive communication strategy and on-going day-to-day service for our member bodies and partners.

The Membership Liaison Adviser will also be expected to maximise positive coverage for horsescotland and its member bodies across a range of media, from press to social media to specialist publications.

Our ideal candidate is someone willing to approach their job with an open mind, has attention to detail and is motivated by working across the entire Scottish equestrian sector. They will be a crucial part of our team, not only helping to ensure the smooth running of horsescotland but also championing our strategic aims, working closely with our member bodies, key stakeholders and the wider Scottish equestrian community.

A full driving licence and a willingness to travel and to potentially work at weekends and evenings is essential. The successful candidate will report to the Education and Development Manager and will be subject to a PVG background check.

While previous experience in a similar role would be desirable, we are happy to support the working needs and development of a successful candidate. As we would expect a degree of flexibility and willingness to pick up additional tasks as required, we are also prepared to be flexible but there are some key responsibilities for this role:

  • Planning, organising and running the day-to-day operation of all aspects of the horsescotland virtual office.
  • Receiving, co-ordinating and responding to all communication to horsescotland.
  • Provide administrative support at events, seminars, conferences and course, for the rider performance and development squads, for horsescotland board meetings including attending to take the minutes.
  • Provide support for all aspects of Scottish Coaching Qualification administration, on the financial administration of the organisation
    for the processing of all PVG applications and invoicing, on all aspects of Participation and Child Protection administration
  • Grow relationships between horsescotland and our members.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a multi-channel communication plan for the organisation and member bodies.
  • Encourage member bodies to use horsescotland communication channels to promote their events and good news stories.
  • Support the uptake of the horsescotland App, promoting it use with member bodies and ensuring the integrity of the data.
  • Produce and collate high quality content for the different horsescotland communication channels including visual, audio and text.
  • Design, record, edit and produce video content for social media and wider publicity and presentation use.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Ability to demonstrate strong content creation across a range of channels.
  • Previous experience of developing communication channels for an organisation and measuring success of each.
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of member body requests both written and oral.
  • A strong interest and passion for the promotion of equestrian activity is preferred.
  • Strong organisational and teamworking skills.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Self-motivated do to working on their own at times.
  • A willingness to take a proactive and responsive approach to member interactions.
  • Strong interest, knowledge and experience of updating content for websites, social media channels are essential and an understanding of how to make best use of an App is desirable.
  • Minimum of intermediate level of use of all Microsoft office packages.
