Merchandise & Bookshop Assistant 

Full time  6 Month Fixed Term Contract (35 hours per week) 

Salary: Competitive plus benefits 

Based at our HQ near Stoneleigh, Warwickshire 

The British Horse Society is the nation's largest equine charity with a passion for horses that is backed by knowledge and expertise. The BHS represents and provides a range of services for horse riders, horse owners, enthusiasts and professionals. 

A fantastic new opportunity has arisen within the Marketing and Communications department. This role will support the Events, Bookshop and Merchandise Manager to maximise opportunities to drive revenue and awareness of the BHS through the bookshop and merchandise. 

The BHS prides itself on offering its own range of educational books as well as selling and promoting a range of other educational books that all help to support anyone passionate about horses and wishing to learn more. Education is at the heart of the BHS and our learning resources help to support our new Equine Excellence Pathway. Our merchandise helps to raise awareness of the BHS and is in an exciting period of change. Both our books and merchandise are sold via our online shop and through our stand at events throughout the year. 

  • The Merchandise & Bookshop Assistant must have excellent customer service skills and exceptional organisational and planning skills.
  • They will process all orders for the online shop and where appropriate fulfil these orders too.
  • Daily activities include dealing with customer queries and orders via the phone and email as well as liaising with suppliers and internal departments.
  • They will assist with financial tracking and budget reconciliation as well as monitoring market trends.
  • We are looking for a team player who acts with integrity with everything that they do.
