British Showjumping is the governing body for the sport in Great Britain.

We actively encourage the development, participation, and enjoyment of the sport through a national competition and training structure which is beneficial to all.

British Showjumping is looking to appoint a National Director of Sport to join our Senior Team. This role will sit alongside the Chief Operating Officer, Head of Training & Development and Head Of Communications, reporting directly to the Chief Executive.

This position will be based at our Head Office in Meriden, Coventry - with time spent at shows and venues in various locations across the UK.

The National Director of Sport will support the Chief Executive as part of the Senior Management team in shaping the strategic direction of British Showjumping. They will play a vital part in the leadership required to support the sport’s strategic and participation needs, as well as ensuring effective day to day management of the business and delivery of the operational plan.

The National Director of Sport is responsible for all aspects required to deliver our national competition and participation framework.

Key Accountabilities:

Leadership and Management

  • Budgetary management, including firm control of spend and reconciliation.
  • Together with the Chief Executive, lead on developing the sport’s competition and membership structure.
  • Manage venue accreditation, standards, dates processes and qualifier allocations.
  • Review and ensure compliance of safeguarding: protecting children and vulnerable adults.
  • Providing leadership and management to the Membership and Shows Team.
  • Overseeing appointment of Area Representatives.

Funding and Governance

  • Identify and submit funding applications across the Home nations.
  • Implement and deliver funded programmes and associated reporting.
  • Work closely with other equestrian organisations and key partners to maximise on joint initiatives.
  • Together with the Chief Executive, set agenda, working points and implement actions of the National Sport Committee and Members Council.
  • Lead on Welfare, Clean Sport and other sporting integrity matters.

To represent British Showjumping externally, as and when required.

Any other related duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed, remaining flexible to the needs of the business.

A current driving license and access to transport is therefore essential.

Salary dependent on experience.
