The British Farriers and Blacksmiths’ Association (BFBA) is seeking to recruit a National Secretary whose role will be at the forefront of delivering support and advice to our members.
The role, which is part-time (20hrs/week), 4 days per week, will primarily be focussed on managing the membership database; attending, contributing to, and taking minutes at the Executive Committee (EC) meetings; dealing with member enquiries; monitoring, updating, and managing our social media activity, including updating the BFBA website; providing administrative support to the EC, and other sub committees.
Working alongside our National Events and Marketing Coordinator, you may work either at home or at Stoneleigh Park. You will, however, be required to work from the Stoneleigh office at least one day per week, and when BFBA events are being held at the Head Office in Stoneleigh additional days in the office will be necessary. This role will also require occasional Saturday/evening work. No specialist farrier knowledge is required, although some basic equine knowledge would be advantageous, and training will be given as necessary.
Reporting to the President of the Executive Committee, the ideal candidate will be proficient at using all aspects of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel; be a highly motivated, self-starter, able to manage their own time effectively with a focus on achieving deadlines, and have good written skills, including correct spelling and grammar. As this role is client facing via telephone, email and social media, good communication skills are essential.
When weekend work is required (this on a Saturday, typically every two months, to attend the Executive Committee meetings) time off in lieu will be provided.
