The Hurlingham Polo Association is the governing body for polo in the UK, Ireland, and many other countries throughout the world. The HPA is responsible for the regulations and rules under which the game is played, including the handicapping of anyone playing in the U.K. or Ireland, and managing the fixtures list. The HPA also promotes polo generally and provides support to the affiliated clubs in the UK and Ireland and overseas associations, as well as organising international polo matches and co-ordinating the England teams.

  • We are currently seeking an Office Administrator to act as the first point of contact for telephone and email enquires into the HPA Office, ensuring these queries are directed to the right person and responded to in a timely fashion.

  • The role is also to support the smooth running of processes require to run polo in the UK, reporting to the Equine and Coaching Manager.

  • This includes providing membership support to players and clubs, processing equine passports from first enquiries to completion, general office admin, and supporting the HPA team on a variety of other events and projects.

The ideal candidate will have some experience of working in an office and good knowledge of Microsoft software. They will be adept at learning new systems and able to follow processes methodically with excellent attention to detail. They will have a confident and polite telephone and email manner, and good customer service skills. They will be comfortable both working as part of a team and autonomously, and they should be versatile and have a can-do attitude as we are a small team covering many areas of polo. They should have some experience in the equine industry: knowledge of polo or the ability to speak Spanish would be advantageous.

The HPA is a small friendly team, shortly moving offices to be based at Kirtlington Park in Oxfordshire with free parking, but not easily accessed by public transport. The office is very dog friendly and so you will need to be comfortable around loose dogs. You can bring your own well-behaved dog to the office. This role is primarily office based 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, with very occasional home working. Occasional weekend working may be required but time off in lieu (TOIL) will be given for each day or half day worked over a weekend.
