The Society of Master Saddlers is an international association representing saddlery retailers, individual craft saddlers, saddle and bridle fitters as well as manufacturers and suppliers to the saddlery trade. We have well over 650 members in over 15 countries. Our vision is to support a prosperous UK saddlery industry, informed by research, and pursuing the highest standards, where the welfare of the horse, howsoever is paramount.

We have a fabulous opportunity for an Office Manager, taking a lead role in the Society’s move to a new headquarters based in Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, where you will manage a small team of employees.    

You will be required to:

  • Manage the Society’s headquarters and small number of staff, ensuring that Society’s members are supported and enquiries from the public are dealt with promptly and efficiently - including assist with planning and setup of the new office

  • Responsible for the management of the Society's business software, systems and records

  • Report to the Directors and book meeting rooms, organise Zoom meetings as appropriate and provide support/attend competitions, trade fairs and other events as required

  • Manage the delivery of City & Guilds Qualifications alongside other Society’s staff by ensuring learners are enrolled, registered, supported and certificates claimed

  • Liaise with other training organisations, staff and centres as required to ensure the smooth running of delivery and assessment

  • Work alongside the Chief Executive/Management Group and other Officers to assist with the planning and delivery of the Society’s strategic vision 

  • Liaise, support and collaborate with other departments and team members as required  

  • Assist with webinar and Moodle delivery and provide support as required

  • Provide reports as requested by the Board of Directors and attend Executive meetings when required

  • Attend training at the Society’s head office or other designated facility

  • Deal with complaints by following the Society’s procedures as appropriate

  • Maintain Accounts Systems and manage financial procedures by checking and processing claims and invoices, work closely with the Treasurer and Bookkeeper

  • Responsible for Health & Safety 

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience in Office Management and excellent computing skills, including spreadsheets, membership databases and Xero.

  • Have excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with multiple stakeholders across the organisation and beyond

  • Be a people person with a friendly and understanding manner

  • Be disciplined and self-motivated, working well independently and as part of a team

  • Have a full UK driving licence

  • Have the flexibility to adapt to tasks accordingly

  • Gain an in-depth knowledge of the organisation’s activities 

It will be beneficial but not essential for the successful candidate to have:

  • A background in small business, charity or associations

  • Experience within the equine industry

  • Health and Safety Experience

  • An understanding of working in a committee lead environment  

The role:

Primarily office-based but includes occasional travel and overnight stays to attend Society events as required.

Full-time – 35 hours per week – Monday to Friday.  Some evening and weekend work is required (Evening work will include online sub-committee meetings or webinar delivery, and weekend work may include setting up for competitions or events).

Expenses paid for mileage and overnight accommodation and meals.

Salary dependent on experience, guide between £34,000 - £38,000
