Passport Administrator 

Part Time - 16 hours per week 

6 months -Fixed Term Contract

Based at our HQ near Stoneleigh, Warwickshire 

The British Horse Society is the nation’s largest equine charity with a passion for horses that is backed by knowledge and expertise. The BHS represents and provides a range of services for horse riders, horse owners, enthusiasts and professionals. 

Working within the Operations Team of the Welfare Department, you will be required to contribute to the success of the Welfare Department in its duty to provide equine passports by taking responsibility for administering and processing all aspects of equine passports. You will liaise with the government and the public to ensure legislation is adhered to.

  • You will be the first point of contact for telephone, letter and email enquiries from BHS members and the public, offering structured, informative advice and guidance on passport enquiries.
  • You will administrate and produce equine passports, including new applications and updating existing passports.
  • You will maintain the passport database, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date and ensure all passport components are in stock and instigate the ordering of any stock as required.
  • You will liaise with other organisations including the Central Equine Database, Defra and other Passport Issuing Organisations and will keep up to date with amendments to legislation, whilst ensuring guidance documents, passport forms and the passport section on the BHS website is kept up to date, keeping the Welfare Team informed of any changes to processes.

The successful applicant will have outstanding attention to detail and an excellent customer service attitude, be enthusiastic and self-motivated with excellent team-working skills. They will have strong I.T skills, with sound knowledge Microsoft Office packages and good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and work effectively to tight deadlines.
