£37,945.00 per annum

International charity World Horse Welfare is seeking an individual to join our International team to support and develop the community-based projects that underpin the charity’s presence in our project countries.

The role

Is UK based, working from home with occasional attendance at our Head Office in Norfolk but does require overseas travel.  The Programme Officer responsible for Veterinary/Animal Welfare/Research is primarily a project management role that facilitates the implementation of our International programme ensuring that working equid welfare is improved in a contextually appropriate and effective manner. However, you will also be asked to advise on all issues that relate to the veterinary aspects of equine welfare. An important part of the role is the development of relationships with key stakeholders to raise the profile and enhance the charity’s reputation.  

About you

  • We are looking for someone with experience of working with people of different cultures and economic situations, who can take on management tasks and responsibilities. 

  • It is essential for this role that you are a qualified Veterinarian.

  • You must have in-depth knowledge of equine health and welfare and be experienced in the daily management and handling of equines. 

  • You will have an interest and experience of leading research projects and have good oral and written skills.

  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and be a realistic problem solver is also important.
