Racing Division - Graduate Opening

RACING DIVISION - GRADUATE OPENING

Salary: £20,000pa 

A vacancy has arisen for a graduate to join the Racing Team at Weatherbys. The Racing Division plays a pivotal role in administering; facilitating and assisting racing’s stakeholders handle all their racing activities within the rules and requirements of the British Horseracing Authority. If you have graduated and are looking for a career in the horseracing industry then this may be the ideal opportunity for you.

Initially, the role will encompass a 3 month introduction to the Racing Division followed by a 12 month placement within the Quality Assurance team. The role will involve a combination of Racing and Quality Assurance responsibilities including: 

  • Ownership and colours registration process.
  • Horses in training process.
  • Registration of owners’ sponsorship.
  • Racing accounts process.
  • Editorial function for various racing publications.
  • Allocation of weights and qualification for races.
  • Processing of entries and declarations for races.
  • Capture of race results.
  • Reviewing & documenting Racing Division processes.
  • Identify recommendations for process improvements.
  • Liaise with the Racing Division creating monthly reports.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, a professional and polite telephone manner as well as strong analytical skills. The successful candidate will need to have a flexible approach to work, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines. A good knowledge and understanding of the horseracing industry and experience of Microsoft suite will also be advantageous.
