RCVS Veterinary Product Specialist   - part time

Supplement Solutions is an award-winning online retailer of leading brand supplements, wormers and health care products for horses (90%), pets and farm animals.   The company was established 15 years ago and has grown into a well known, respected brand within the equestrian industry, with both consumers and trade.  The business is primarily online, however regards excellent customer service and brand relationships as the key to success. 

We are now looking to strengthen our team and recruit a vet to expand our veterinary product range.  The role is part time to start, but we would also consider someone who would like to work on a self employed or consultancy basis. Applicants must have the required skills, along with a positive forward thinking attitude, a passion for the equine industry, and the ability to take on a new challenge and compete a project.

Required Skills:

Veterinary Qualifications:  This role is for only for qualified Vets who are registered with the RCVS, so please do not apply unless you are.

Equine knowledge: Ideally the candidate will have a passion for horses and be able to confidently discuss ailments and treatment to horse owners. They must be aware or had experience of the medication available in this sector.  We would also consider someone with pet nutrition or farm animal nutrition background as this is an area we could develop (please state this information on your application).

Computer knowhow:  As an internet retailer, our entire systems are operated by computers and other digital devices.  You must be able to use word and excel and be quick to learn and adapt to other applications with ease, and find using a computer easy.

Self management: This is a new role and your area of expertise, therefore you must be capable of managing yourself and working out the best way forward.  Support and guidance will be given by the company director.

What does the role entail?

As part of our expansion, we are looking to offer more POM-VPS, NFA-VPS and veterinary products,  and add POM-V products for sale on our website.  You will be responsible for registering  a Veterinary Practice Premises, and then developing a suitable online (with our web developers) and in-house system, enabling POM-V products to be correctly Prescribed and Dispensed in line with the VMD and within the legal obligations.  The successful candidate will research and add suitable products to our website and be wholly responsible for all POM-V and POM-VPS products, including prescription and dispensing of products to customers. You will be responsible for pricing, and marketing products within the correct legalities of these products, to bring an increase in revenue and profit.

Depending on the number of hours agreed you may be involved with other aspects of the business, such as answering calls, product sales and advising horse owners, along with any other tasks associated with a busy online retailer.

Where would you be based?

Ideally applicants must live within a reasonable commute of PR3 0ZU, as the role is based at our main premises, however, due to Covid19 there is a possibility that some work may be home based once the role is established.

A fair salary, or hourly rate depending on individual
