Research And Education Officer

Closing Date for Applicants:

Full time

fixed term contract

World Horse Welfare is an international charity that improves the lives of horses in the UK and around the world through care, research, education and influence.

This is an exciting maternity cover role to help drive World Horse Welfare’s educational and research activities. Ideally full-time (but part-time considered), this role is part of the charity’s Communications and Public Affairs team and works across the charity and with external stakeholders to advance the charity’s educational initiatives, campaigns and policies on equines no matter their role in society. This role would suit someone with an equine veterinary background with outstanding communications and organisational skills.

The role can work remotely from home and is offered on an initial 6-month fixed term basis.  There will be limited travel to locations across the UK for important meetings as required.

  • You will be responsible for developing educational materials, and sourcing information from research and literature to evidence positions around equine welfare including within leisure, sport, work and production.
  • The role involves the planning and direction of educational and research projects, including coordinating our Welfare Wednesday Webinars.
  • You will work alongside the UK Welfare and Communications teams to produce new and updated educational materials including webpages, videos, leaflets, blogs and emails.
  • You will also be required to work alongside others inside and outside of the charity to develop our education offerings and support our research and the evidence base that will enable World Horse Welfare to inform its campaigns and educational initiatives.

World Horse Welfare is committed to championing equality and diversity in all aspects of employment and in the services that it provides. We encourage applications from under-represented groups, particularly ethnically diverse communities, LGBTQ+ and disabled people.

World Horse Welfare takes great pride in being realistic, compassionate and forward-thinking and the successful applicant will be expected to share these values.

Salary in the region of £26,000 to £30,000 per annum.
