Senior Equine Claims Handler

One of the UK’s leading general insurance and financial services companies, NFU Mutual has been meeting our customers’ needs for over 100 years.

About the Role

Our Equine Claims Unit deals with all equine claims and enquiries made by NFU Mutual customers across the UK. As a more senior member of the team, you will deal with the higher value and more complex claims that come through as well as coaching and guiding other Claims Handlers to improve their knowledge and support effective decision making. As part of this, you will also audit and provide feedback on claims files and processes ensuring a consistent approach.

At NFU Mutual we pride ourselves on delivering a great customer service. From the moment you pick up the phone, you’ll make customers feel at ease at what could be a very stressful time in their lives. As well as the customer, you’ll talk to our NFU Mutual Agents, providing technical support and assistance, as well as relevant third parties to settle claims quickly and efficiently. You’ll decide on legal liability and policy liability issues and make sure that we’re complying with all regulatory and internal systems controls. You’ll have more freedom to make decisions and manage claims in the way that you think is best.

About You

Having had experience dealing with equine claims, you will have great knowledge of horses and their welfare as well as a good understanding of the insurance industry. We will also consider individuals with extensive pet claims experience, as long as you have some equine experience, whether this is academic and/or practical. Whichever way, you will have a passion for horses and will be able to relate to our customers and sympathise with their situations. It would be great if you also have previous experience of supporting and coaching others.

In terms of qualifications, you will ideally have a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including Maths and English and you will have Cert CII or be working towards this qualification.
