Welfare Field Officer – North West 

Full Time - 35 hours per week (working hours) 

Salary: Competitive plus benefits 

Covering (but not limited to) Merseyside, Lancashire, Manchester, Cheshire 

The British Horse Society is the nation’s largest equine charity with a passion for horses that is backed by knowledge and expertise. The BHS represents and provides a range of services for horse riders, horse owners, enthusiasts and professionals. 

This is a brand new role for the North West Region and represents the first time that the BHS has employed a professional Welfare Field Officer within this area.

  • The successful candidate will work very closely with our volunteer Welfare Officers to support their work as well as recruiting and training new volunteers.
  • The Welfare Field Officer will attend welfare concerns reported to the BHS 
  • Offer advice and support to owners in order to improve their horses’ lives.
  • In more serious cases, the Officer will work with other organisations to take action under the Animal Welfare Act (2006)
  • The appointed person will also be heavily involved with proactive welfare education within the region

This will be a home based position and will involve frequent travel throughout the region as well as some evening and weekend work. The successful candidate must have access to a home office set up where broadband is available and will be provided with BHS support for this. They must also have their own transport suitable for business use.
